Tuesday 11th August - Walk **** - Bradfield to Wrabness – Mainly cloudy but hot.

After last night’s lovely sunset, we woke at our lovely spot by the River Stour just in time to catch a top sunrise, lucky really as it then went cloudy but still very close, hot too! The tide was high and we were then joined by 90 swans slowly drifting by feeding in the shallow water. We are very lucky to be able to park at this beautiful place and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. A large flock of Godwits then landed on the mud just up river as we tucked into the cornflakes kindly brought by windsurfing friend Jason before setting off on a walk to Wrabness at 8.20. The farmers were jet washing their small yacht on the mud as we passed farm. Then onto Wrabness Nature Reserve where we did a circuit spotting some deer and enjoyed some lovely blackberries:) Coming out at the bird hide we continued along the sea wall and down onto the beach. Passing small beach houses on stilts with the tide low and the wind light the boats on the mooring were making some nice reflections. We passed the first section of houses then the cliffs to the second set of houses where there had been a fire recently burning down five of them, a disposable BBG in a bin I think was the caused! We took the lane back past the caravan site to the road where we came across Wrabness Church with no tower, it actually had its bell in a small wooden framed building in the churchyard:) We then found the footpath back past the Woodland Burial place, that’s a nice spot to end up in but I bet it is expensive! It was a long straight footpath back to Wrabness windsurfing beach where we continued back to the van. It was hard going in the end as it was airless, very close and hot. Back at the van we had a relaxing cuppa before heading back to Felixstowe, the end of three great days with some top foiling too. Looks like the wind has now disappeared fro a few days with thunder in the air!
